Common
Questions in Mexico
Can
I drink the water?
Mexico has an extensive water purification
system but, no one drinks the water from
the tap. Bottled water is readily
available at all restaurants, Hotels and
grocery stores.
There is no problem brushing your teeth
using the tap water and don't worry if you
swallow a bit in the shower. Nine times
out of ten the dreaded "tourista"
is causes by too much sun and
overindulging during "Happy
Hour" and too few glasses of water to
keep you hydrated. Use common sense and be
sure to drink lots of bottled water!
Which
documents should I bring??
Your Travel Documents
To enter Mexico you will need to present a
valid passport or your birth certificate
with embossed seal. You will also need a
Mexican Tourist Card which you will be
given at the airport when you check in or
on the plane.
You will be required to present the card
when you depart Mexico. A good idea which
is not required, would be to bring an
additional Id (i.e. Diver's license).
What
Should I Wear??
Basic summer clothes. Be sure to bring a
light jacket or sweater, it can get a bit
chilly at night. It is very casual,
t-shirts and shorts are fine anywhere, but
you might want to bring something dressier
for evening. suntan lotion, a travel size
mosquito repellent, and your toiletry
items.
Where
can I exchange money??
Us Dollars are easily exchanged into pesos
in bans, major hotels, airports and
exchange houses. Mexican banks are
generally open from 9am to 4 pm. Exchange
houses are open longer and offer quicker
service. Most credit cards are accepted in
shops, hotels and travel agencies.
Major purchases are best made with a
credit card, because you automatically
receive the banks rate of exchange, which
is higher than the rates given in town or
at the hotels
Medical
Facilities??
Mexico has a nationalized healthcare
system and almost every town and city has
either a national hospital or medical
clinic.
