In El Cuyo you'll be able to see the countryside
and wild life in its natural state - not as in other tourist places such as
Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Puerto Adventuras to mention a few. In
these latter locations there are zoos, aviaries, and artificial parks in which
the animals are captured and obliged to be spectacles to the visitors.
In El
Cuyo, on the other hand, you'll be able to stroll peacefully without the danger
of being hit by taxis which run 24 hours a day, or having to put up with the
deafening noise of trucks, planes, or "publicidad" vehicles that loudly announce
their wares to the tourists.
Nor will you be bothered by vendors of souvenirs,
artesania, tours, and time share plans - as is frequently the case in the large
tourist destinations. You will not be surrounded by hundreds of other
tourists.
El Cuyo is a tranquil place where the few tourists who are there
reside in cabanas or houses along the length of the beach of this fishing
village. From October through March most of the tourists are from other
countries. In April, July, and August there are both national and international
visitors. During easter season ( end of march or april ), July, and August there
is the greatest influx of tourists, and El Cuyo registers its greatest number of
tourists. Because of this high occupancy it is necessary to make your
reservations at least a month in advance. Many people from
Tizimin,Valladolid, and Merida vacation at their summer home in El Cuyo in
the company of their family.
If you are seeking excellent snorkeling and diving,
the vibrant hustle and bustle of well travelled areas, night entertainment, and
the excitement of theme parks - we certainly recommend Cancun and the Riviera
Maya to you. If, instead, you're looking for a change of pace, El Cuyo may well
be a pleasant alternative.
In El Cuyo you're able to rest and relax, read a
good book, bicycle, observe a wide variety of birds, play volleyball and
basketball, and, of course, fish and swim - the last two activities being the
most popular from June through August. If you've had your fill of large tourist
destinations and want to reacquaint yourself with the simple and natural - El
Cuyo is the place you're looking for.
